The Details
All of the name plates I create are hand drawn from your photographs and made to order, this means that you get a completely unique plaque personalised especially for you and your horse! I have created custom wooden plaques before so if you have a request for a different wood shape or size or multiple horses, please drop me a message.
Due to the fact that stable signs lead a tough life down at the yard, all name plates are fully varnished and UV sprayed so they are protected from the elements. I recommend hanging nameplates that don't get much protection from rain with screws rather than string.
There are various wood types and size options available.
All standard designs include a stable or show name and a portrait drawing of your horse, extra text and imagery can be added.

How it works - A guide to your stable name plate
Step 1
Choosing your options
The drawing of your horse is created from one of your own photos. Feel free to send me as many photos as you like so we can choose the best image together. On this scale, I can only draw a horse head portrait so please be aware I cannot draw a full body image on the name plate. Bridles and head collars in the image are fine and can be included or excluded based on what you prefer. As always, the better the image the better the detail.
The next decision is what size plaque you would like and what type of wood. All name plates include a name and portrait as standard but you can choose to jazz up your design by including extra text, i.e your contact details or your horse's show name. Or, the more popular option for making your name plate special is having extra imagery, i.e flowers, rosettes - anything your heart desires as a small decal. Your final decision is choosing your favourite font from the font list.
Step 2
Pencil to Wood
When you get to the top of my waitlist and it is time for your name plate to be created I will send a mockup design for you to check. This is the time to let me know if you'd like any changes to the composition or the font.
Once you are happy I will then get drawing! If you follow me on social media you may see some work in progress photos of your horse's name plate on my story. If the name plate has been ordered as surprise gift, please let me know and I will make sure I don't share anything of it online.
Step 3
The big reveal
When your name plate is all finished being created I will send a photo over for you to check and once again let me know if there are any minor changes you'd like made. Once you've let me know you're happy with it I will spray it with fixative and then cover with varnish so it is well protected for a life at the yard.
When all the layers of varnish have dried your sign will be posted out to you.

Can I have a different shape or size?
Yes, I am more than happy to create a custom piece for you, please bear in mind though that the price is likely to be slightly more due to not being able to buy the materials in bulk.
How do you create the artwork?
I am a pencil artist so use high quality pencils to draw on wood. They are pigmented enough to actually put colour down onto wood which surprises most customers.
Can you draw with/without the bridle?
Yes, I am happy to draw a bridle or headcollar if it is in your reference photo I can also not include these if preferred. Please note I cannot draw one if the reference doesn't already have one.
Can I clean my sign?
Yes, if your horse gets your sign grubby just use a damp cloth to wipe it over and remove any dirt.
Are the name plates waterproof?
Name plates are well protected against the elements but I can't guarantee the life of a sign due to not knowing the conditions it will be kept in. Most stables have more than adequate protection to look after the name plate. I have not had any previous customers have issues with the longevity of their signs.
Will you post internationally?
Yes! I regularly post artwork around the world so there is no issue with me doing this for you.
