Horse Photography

Covering the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire

Hi I'm Emma, a professional equine photographer and huge animal lover based in Wombourne.

I specialise in relaxed, colourful and emotive photography of your equine friends!

Horses become such an integral part of our lives and as a horse owner myself I know there's nothing like the relationship you form with your heart horse. Creating memories of them to treasure and look back on is so important, so if you'd like beautiful imagery of your best friend you're in the right place.

A photoshoot is an enjoyable experience for both you and your horse I promise!
How can I know that for sure? Well keep reading...

My photography style is relaxed and emotive meaning there won't be lots of posing, I will make suggestions and give direction on where it is best for your horse to be positioned in certain locations, but ultimately I will capture whatever is in front of me. I completely understand horses have different personalities and confidence levels so the main priority is keeping them happy and engaged. If you choose to be in the photos with your horse and aren't the biggest fan of the camera you need not worry, my favourite prompt is getting you to interact with your horse which always helps people relax. Owning horses myself means I know all the small details to look out for like hay in the mane or not standing square but also the larger things such as when your horse is getting abit wound up or you are feeling abit nervous so I will spot any of these things and help sort them out, big or small.

I create vibrant and colourful photos, my favourite location is a forest or a yard where there is lots of greenery and if I'm really lucky some beautiful flowers. Being out in nature is always an enjoyable place to be and photographing in a location your horse is familiar with is also a great idea as they are confident and comfortable with their surroundings.

Can't wait for your horse to be my next model?

" Emma quickly put me and Aled at ease - I think he really enjoyed a bit of showing off, as you can see from the photos! I’m not used to “modelling” and I am really surprised by how confident we look. The images were so lovely that I decided to have a photobook."

Your Photoshoot Day

How it works - A guide to your horse photoshoot
Step 1

Preparing for your photoshoot

I know a lot of people get nervous ahead of their photoshoot about what will happen and what if their horse isn't cooperative, but I am here to settle those nerves! Honestly you have nothing to worry about, I have been around horses my whole life so I understand that every horse is different and that all that's needed is a bit of patience. The most important thing is capturing your horse's personality and the bond you share so leave that bit up to me!

Once your date is secured for your photoshoot I will send you a welcome guide. The guide includes some helpful tips on how to get the most out of your photoshoot, from choosing locations, getting your horse ready, what to wear - it's all in there. It's also a great time to think about any specific images you would like of your horse. Take a look through my galleries and let me know which ones are your favourite so I can create something similar for you.

Step 2

The day of your photoshoot

Now for the best part - the day of your photoshoot! I'll meet you at your chosen location, whether that's your yard or a local hacking spot. Before I start taking photos, I'll spend some time chatting to you and getting to know your horse so that they feel happy and comfortable with me.

Then we will get started taking photos. I take a wide range of images on a photoshoot and always split up the more 'posed' photographs so your horse doesn't have to focus on one thing for too long and stays engaged. My equine photoshoots can include in hand images, ridden images and portraiture images of your horse. I encourage you to have a few outfit options if you are going to be in the photos so you get a nice variation in your gallery. Whilst photographing I will keep an eye out for settings at your location that would make a great photo. We will have plenty of time during your photoshoot to get a range of photos and if you have any ideas just let me know!

At the end of your session, I will show you the print products and wall art I offer so you can have a look in person at the type of products available and decide which ones you love and which ones will make the most of your favourite photographs.

Step 3

The big reveal

After your photoshoot I will professionally edit your images and have your gallery ready within 2 weeks. The photos will be uploaded to an online private gallery in my website client area for you to view and choose your favourites for whichever print or digital products you have opted for. This is my favourite part of the process as I love hearing your feedback on your photos and finding out which images you love!

Most customers end up purchasing additional photos after seeing their gallery. To see all of my package options and product range have a look below.

Do you love a black background?

I can include black background photos in my standard equine photoshoots, so if you've pictured some stunning fine art style images of your horse then you are in the right place!

All we need is a stable or barn entrance that your horse can stand in so that the light falls away from them and we are good to go.

FAQs

FAQs

Still got some questions? Maybe these will help...

What if it rains?

We all know how unpredictable British weather can be so if it's looking like rain on the day of your shoot we can reschedule to a different day, no problem!

Can I have photos with my horse?

Yes of course! I love having owners get involved in the photoshoot. We so rarely get photos with our horses, it's the perfect opportunity for you to get some photos that really capture the relationship you have with your horse.

What if my horse doesn't stand still?

A lot of people worry about this, I have photographed lots of horses with a wide range of personalities and I've gotten beautiful photos of all of them. Fast shutter speed and an eye for the right moment goes a long way!

Can my horse be on a leadrope?

Yes, if you'd like photos of your horse with no rope, I can easily remove leadropes from any chosen images but I also have a special photography halter too that we can use.

How do I secure a date?

To secure your photoshoot date, get in touch and we can find a day that suits us both. I then will send you a 25% deposit invoice to hold your chosen date. The remainder of the invoice will be due prior to your dog's photoshoot.

How do I prepare for the photoshoot?

Any questions you have should be answered in the welcome pack that will be sent to you once your date is secured. If you have any extra queries just drop me a message and I will be more than happy to help!
